5 easy meals you can make in your very own dorm room
Being a college student is tough for many reasons, but one of the biggest problems we face is that it can be really hard to make meals for ourselves that are both healthy, easy and cheap. Finding the right ingredients while sticking to your budget can be challenging, especially if you haven't had much practice with it. It's hard to cook for just one, and it can be so easy revert to frozen pizzas and microwavable mac 'n cheese. Here are some dorm-friendly recipes that anyone can make that are delicious and nutritious!

This fast and delicious version of a burrito bow is easy to make, and all you need are a few ingredients and a microwave. It has a total of 343 calories, 63g of fat, 15g of protein, and 9g of fiber. You can add more or less vegetables of your choice or any other ingredients to make it more custom to you!

1 c cooked brown rice (use any pre-cooked, or microwavable rice)
1/2 c black beans, drained & rinsed
2-3 tbs salsa, or to taste
1 tbs plain greek yogurt
1 tbs shredded cheddar or Mexican-blend cheese (or cheese of your choice)

Here is a great recipe you can prepare at night and eat in the morning, on-the-go! All you have to do is put all the ingredients in a jar (or any container of your choosing), stir so that everything is combined, put a lid on it and refrigerate, and in the morning, at a splash of any milk of your choosing, stir again, and abracadabra! You're done! A perfect breakfast you can take anywhere with you.

1/2 c old fashioned oats
1/2 c milk + splash in the morning
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp flax seeds
1 tsp maple syrup

You can add or substitute any of your favorite fried rice ingredients easily, and it's all microwave friendly! It makes one complete serving size, perfect for late night dinners while studying at your desk. Cooking for two? No problem. Just double the ingredients!

1 c water
1 tbs soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 c frozen pea and carrote

Depending on whether or not you can cook chicken in your dorm, this meal is an all around perfect dinner meal. If you can't, you could even try buying a rotisserie chicken, that way you have leftovers for more chicken pesto pasta! It takes about 10 minutes to make, and totally worth it.
